That issue escalated dramatically over the past two years as AI-generated songs imitating globally recognizable performers began flooding social media platforms, streaming services, and video-sharing ecosystems. Some of those recordings became so convincing that listeners struggled to distinguish synthetic vocal reproductions from authentic human performances. For artists and rights holders, the implications immediately became existential. The concern extends far beyond parody or imitation. Industry leaders increasingly argue that unrestricted voice cloning could fundamentally destabilize the economic value of identity itself.
